My wife, Haya-Ayelet, and myself labored with the idea of this portal for over three years before its birth. The notion that inspired us was that it is possible to portray current events from a positive standpoint free of malevolence, to diminish evil, decrease conflicts and power struggles and convey messages in a language that’s truly universal”.

Naori adds, “I hope that many illustrators will join the competition and find a home in the BuzziNews illustrators’ community portal. This is a new approach that will allow illustrators, comics artists and amateurs to earn money, and we hope they will make a lot of it from future earnings of the portal”.

ÇÝZGÝ: FÝRUZ KUTAL

Erdal Ýnönü için

kayýp insanlar deðil derdim
beden yok olur
yok olmasý da doðaya uygundur

düþünceler

ah bilinçte yeþeren eþsiz çiçekler
sizlersiniz yok ediliþine hayýflandýðým
salt sizler
barýþ içinde yeþermeyi özlemiþ
silahsýz portreler

bir beden uðurladýk topraða dün
geç kalýnmýþ çiçekler yýðdýk
tabutuna Erdal Ýnönü’nün
fiziki deðildi gülüþü
kiþiliðiyle örtüþürdü
kendi ayaklarýyla yürüyüþü
fizik kurallarýný iyi bildiðinden
omuzlara alýnacakken
yere uzanýrdý boylu boyunca
fiziði
sahiden bildiðinden
lanet olsun
omuzlara alýndý ölüsü
çaresizdi
çünkü artýk yere serilemezdi
omuzlara direnirken serildiði yere
geldiði gibi
boylu boyunca
uzanarak
çekip gitti

Last Sunday (November 4th, 2007), in my opinion, we opened the most meaningful exhibition of ones we have opened in Germany so far. The Ballinstadt Museum, which is decorated with personal belongings and documents of 5 million immigrants who had migrated from Hamburg Harbor in 1850 and 1937,allocated its first exhibition for Don Quichotte. Everything has been considered carefully for the project that museumize immigrants’ houses. Visitors fairly feel like to live in that period as they walk around the museum. One of those who contributed a great deal of effort for the project to become true is Maja Berends. Berends, who had contacted us via Internet, made effort for this exhibition to be displayed. Our "Immigration" exhibition, which is a consist of 50 cartoons, interested a lot. Some cartoons related the immigration topic which were drawn by Erdogan Karayel in 1986 also took part in the exhibition. Karayel also mentioned about the reasons of immigration and problems of immigrants  in his opening speech. Turkish and German press members were also in the opening of exhibition.

What is BallinStadt?

Between 1850 and 1939, Hamburg served as the “Gateway to the World” for some 5 million European emigrants who left their homeland via the city’s port in search of a better life across the Atlantic. These people, many of whom were fleeing from political and religious persecution or simply wanted to escape a life of poverty and hunger, sought a new beginning, a better livelihood and the opportunity to make a fresh start in the “land of plenty”. And they all had high hopes of a better life. The BallinStadt (BallinCity) Museum is dedicated to these people.

It all began at the turn of the twentieth century when Albert Ballin, General Manager of the renowned German shipping company HAPAG, built mass accommodation at the Port of Hamburg for the many thousands of people from all over Europe who arrived in the city every week.

BallinStadt – Port of Dreams will be located on the grounds of the former ‘Emigrants’ Halls’, which began operating in 1901 and were continually expanded up until 1907 to form a sizeable settlement.

A storytelling place. Telling the stories of people who took their future into their own hands again. A future full of dreams and hopes. But also a future full of uncertainty. 5 million people with their own thoughts, feelings, and stories. They left their traces in the river of history. Virtually everywhere in the "New World". In millions of descendants.

Herþey 20.yy.’ýn baþýnda, HAPAG adlý Alman Gemi Þirketinin genel müdürü Albert Ballin’in, Avrupa’nýn her yanýndan her hafta Hamburg limanýna akýn eden binlerce göçmene kitlesel bir barýnak inþa etmesiyle baþladý. Bu iþlem 1901-1907 yýllarý arasýnda giderek büyüdü.

Burasý bir öykü anlatým mekânýdýr. Belirsiz bir geleceði umutlarýyla rayýna oturtan insanlarýn öyküsü; binlercesinin düþünceleri ve duygularýyla tarihte býraktýðý izler ‘Yeni Dünya’nýn her tarafýna yayýlmýþtýr.
