The organizer of the 1st International Cartoon Exibition Sisak 2015 is the City of Sisak, Croatian

Cartoonist Association and Museum of the City of Sisak.

A. PARTICIPATION

The festival is open to everyone, regardless nationality, age, sex, or profession.

B. THEME

„Jazz & Blues" (gag or caricature portrait to the set topic).

C. ENTRIES

1. Original works and digital artworks will be accepted. Digital artworks is to be numbered in

pencil on the front and pencil signed. Copies cannot be admitted.

2. Entries can be either black and white or coloured.

3. There should be the name, the surname and the address on the reverse side of the cartoons.

4. The cartoons must not have bee previously awarded on festival.

5. Maximum 3 entries will be submitted.

6. Size of entries is a A4 or A3 format (300 dpi).

H. OTHER CONDITIONS

As this is the first international exhibiton of caricatures in Sisak, all the authors are kindly asked

to leave their works (at least one) to the property of the organizers.

Only at explicit request will the remaining (original) works be returned to the owners at the end

of the exhibition cycle (in the second half of the year 2016).

Authors of the works that qualfy to the exhibition are given a presentation copy od the exhibition

cataloque.

The organizer reserves the right to reproduce the works sent to the festival , Sisak 2015, as the

advertising material, without being obliged to pay a fee to the author whose work may be used.

The prize-winning works become the property of the organizer.

TOPLUMSAL CINSIYET ESITLIGI KARIKATUR SERGISINE CAGRI

​"Gulme" insanlari diger canlilardan ayiran en belirgin ozelliklerdendir. Agir olup molla sayilmanin bolca goruldugu ve "…kari gibi gulme!" nin bir kufur sayildigi bir alemde, mizahin aslinda derin bir dusuncenin urunu oldugu unutturulmaya calisilir. Oysa gulebildigimiz kadar insanizdir. Hala gulebildigimiz olcude kalbimiz sicaktir, hele de kendimize gulebilmek kibre karsi en iyi sifadir. Kahkaha ve mizah iste bu yuzden tarih boyunca bazen dinler tarafindan, bazen iktidarlarca yasaklanmis, korkutucu olmustur. Mizah, ayrintilara, doganin akisina ters olana dikkat ceken, aci gercekleri sekerle kaplayarak sunan cok onemli bir mecradir.

Elestirel dusuncenin, direnmenin, bas etmenin bir ifadesi olarak mizah ve bununla ortusen karikatur sanati toplumsal rollerimizi yeniden dusunmeye iten baska bir sanat alani.

Sergi ile toplumsal cinsiyet esitligi konusunda farkindalik yaratmak, konuyu yeniden tartisma gundemine tasimak, siyasal, ekonomik ve toplumsal alanin vazgecilmez bir parcasi ve hukmedilen bir alani olarak kadin sorununa bir de mizah gozuyle bakmak amaclanmaktadir.

18th FLYING BROOM INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S FILM FESTIVAL

CALL FOR CARTOON EXHIBITION OF GENDER EQUALITY

"Laughing" is one of the most significant features of humankind that distinguishes it from other species. In a world where being treated like a saint for being quiet is quite common and saying "…don’t laugh like a woman!" is a swearing, it is tried to make people forget that humour is actually the result of a deep thought. Yet, how much we laugh defines how "human" we are. Our hearts stay warm as we laugh and laughing to ourselves is the best cure for arrogance. That is why laughter and humour are considered to be threatening and get banned by religions and governments throughout history. Humour is an essential medium that points out details, what is unorthodox to nature’s course and illustrates bitter reality by covering it with sugar.

Humour, as an expression of critical thought, struggling, resisting and caricature matching up with this is another branch of art that leads us to think about our social roles.

Through the exhibition it is aimed to raise awareness on gender equality, get people discuss on this topic again, have a look at women issue, which is an essential part of political, economic and social life, by viewpoint of humour.

The exhibit which will be held on May 8th-18th 2015 is open for all amateur and professional caricaturists.

We are waiting for your attendance at this international exhibit until 1st of April, which will be carried out in cooperation with Flying Broom and Obur Humour.

Participation Conditions

Theme: Gender Equality
Applications will be accepted via email. Participants must send their works with name, surname, address and contact information. The works should be sent to both oburmizah@gmail.com and festival@ucansupurge.org
Cartoons must be in A3 size (29,7x 42 cm) and in 300 dpi resolution. All techniques are acceptable. Each artist can participate to exhibition with 5 works at most. If the works have written parts, they will be in English or Turkish.
The works reflecting the theme in the best way will be evaluated by a selection committee constituted of Flying Broom Women Communication and Research Association and Obur Humour Magazine.
Deadline for application to the exhibition is WEDNESDAY APRIL 1, 2015.
Exhibition will be held in Ankara at the Cankaya Municipality Contemporary Arts Center as part of 18th Flying Broom International Women’s Film Festival between 8th – 18th of May.
The sent and selected works will be collected in a special magazine, distributed during the exhibition dates and sent to the participants.
The works sent for the exhibit could only be used by Flying Broom during and after festival on printed materials and on the web site for the promotional purposes. In the event that the work is used except for the mentioned purposes, the permission will be received from the artists.

Competition is devoted to creation in the World of "a new order" at which any aggression against the neighboring state was possible to justify as the "blood call" as it was in the years of blossoming of the fascist states.

INTERNATIONAL CARTOON CONTEST OF NILÜFER MUNICIPALITY 2015

Last Apply Date (Deadline): March 3, 2015

Concept (Theme): "War and Peace" (Who’ll go a waltzing Matilda with me). The concept refers to Eric Bogle’s song (And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda) which is dedicated to Gallipoli War in WW1.

Contest Details
18 March is the memorial date of Gallipoli Martyrs of World War 1. The cooperation of Nilüfer Municipality and Anatolian Cartoonists Association organizes a cartoon contest for that special day. The concept points out Scottish Singer Eric Bogle’s song, "And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda" which refers to Gallipoli War where more than 500 thousands soldiers lost their life. After war, antiwar movements substantially raised.
2015 is the 100th anniversary of Gallipoli. This is why Nilüfer Municipality organized this contest under the concept of "War and Peace." Every cartoon works relates to "War and Peace" will be evaluated.
This contest is open to all professional and amateur cartoonists of any nationality, religion and etc.
The number of entries is limited to 3.
The works have to be e-mailed as format of A4-300dpi-jpg to anatoliancartoon@gmail.com
It is acceptable to join to the contest with cartoons that have been published previously. However, they should not have won any prize/award in any other competition.
The cartoons which are suspected due to plagiarism are going to publish on the website, www.anadolukarikaturculerdernegi.org between the dates 3-6 March. Hence, the owners of the works have a last chance to defend their work. Any of apply after those dates won’t be accepted.

5th Turhan Selcuk Cartoon Competition 2015

CONDITIONS

THEME: Open

CONDITIONS:

1. The competition is open to any cartoonist.
2. It is acceptable to enter with cartoons that have been published previously. However, they should not have won any prize/award in any other competition.
3. Any technique is allowed. The cartoonist can submit a maximum of 5 cartoons.
However, the cartoons must be original. As long as the cartoons have the original signature of the cartoonist, digital prints are acceptable.
4. All cartoons must be 30x40cm maximum.
5. The participants must write their names (first and surname) in capital letters, address, e-mail, country and telephone number; a brief CV should be submitted in a sealed envelope.

General Rules and Regulations

Light. Illuminating this subject with the light of the cartoon seems to us one

of the best appeals to the artists of humor.

This is an issue of sovereign importance, which also shows many inequalities

that exist worldwide. The light of the sun and moon is the same for everyone.

But the other lights, electricity and all that goes with it, are the reason for the

darkness in different parts of the world. This is the reflection that we intend

to evoke. Come on with a humorous light! With the bright focus on progress

and distortions in the spotlight and behind the scenes. In between is an

undeniable truth: there is no light without shade!

Caricature Special Awards

Two great figures have been appointed for the 2015 edition of the Caricature

Special Awards:

1 – The Portuguese football player (born in the Madeira archipelago) Cristiano

Ronaldo, a sports icon, winner of Golden Balls and Golden Boots;

2 – and the American writer Ernest Hemingway (1899-1961), Nobel Prize

for Literature, who participated in the First World War a century ago. This

participation, as a driver of the Red Cross and the correspondent of the Kansas

City Star newspaper, inspired him A Farewell to Arms (1929), an emblematic

work of his literary career.

The choice of this figures aim to target the ingeniousness of humour artists, and

arises from other designations made since 2013: Manoel de Oliveira and José

Saramago (in 2013); Nelson Mandela and Siza Vieira (in 2014).

3 In addition to participating with cartoons on the main theme, the cartoonists

can also send works for the FREE CATEGORY, as per the previous editions.

4 The artists who do not wish to compete can send their works to the EXTRA-

-COMPETITION section informing of this decision.

5 5.1. Works must be originals and any kind of graphical technique will be

accepted, including digital artwork, sent by Internet, if the prints are SIGNED BY

THE AUTHOR and if they are indicated as PRINT NUMBER ONE, or a original

to this contest.

5.2.Can also be presented sculptures pieces of humour, in any kind of material.

6 The works can have at the maximum the following measures:

– in paper, 42 x 30 cm (DIN A3);

– sculpture pieces, 42 x 30 x 30 cm

7 The works should present on the reverse the following information: author ́s

name and address, title, theme section and year. The author’s CV in Portuguese

The Jury will have an odd number of judges and their decision will be final with

no subjection to any kind of appeal or reclamation.

The awarded works will become property of the PORTUGUESE PRINTING

PRESS MUSEUM and will be part of the INTERNATIONAL CARTOON GALLERY.

The others will be sent to the artists, if formally requested, after its public exhibition

during the PORTOCARTOON and possible exhibition in other cities and countries.

In case of using non-awarded works in other cases except PORTOCARTOON

exhibition or its promotion, copyright payment will be made to the artists

whenever it takes place.

UTO ask you to send one or two of your art for the festival because of the attack in Paris. In January 7, 2015, at approximately 11:30CET(10:30UTC), two masked gunmen armed withKalashnikov rifles, ashotgun, and a rocket-propelled grenade launcherstormed the headquarters of the Frenchsatirical newspaperCharlie Hebdoin Paris. They shot and killed 12 people, includingCharlie Hebdostaff and twoFrench National police officers, and wounded 11 others

This festival will hold I am Charlie Cartoon Festival out of respect for human rights and support for journalists and cartoonist around the world.

Terms and conditions:

The competition is open to everybody around the world.

The art work must be original and not published or exhibited previously.

The work should be designed and colored digitally.

The artist should sign the original digital artwork, and number the printed version with pencil before mailing it to our postal address.

The artwork should be filed as JPG with a resolution of 300 dpi.

Name, personal details and contact information (phone, email, country of origin, mailing address) of the artist should be written behind the artwork.

Artists should enclose a personal photo and a short biography of themselves.

The artwork should demonstrate of the subjects mentioned above.

International juries will select the artwork for competition.

A collection of artworks will be published to present an artistic view of the principles of tolerance.

Universal Tolerance Organization will have the right to publish the artworks in books, and websites of U.T.O etc.

Awards:

First prize: 600 Euros.

Second prize: 400 Euros.

Third prize: 300 Euros.

20. INTERNATIONAL CARTOON EXHIBITION

ZAGREB 2015 A. PARTICIPATION

The organizer of the 20th International cartoon

exhibition ZAGREB 2015 is the Croatian

Cartoonist Association. The festival is opened

for everyone regardless of nationality, age, sex,

or profession.

C. ENTRIES

Conditions of entry:

1. Original works and digital artworks will be

accepted. Digital

artwork is to be numbered in pencil on the

front and pencil

signed. Copies cannot be admitted.

2. Entries can be either black and white or

coloured.

3. There should be the name, the surname and

the adress on the

reverse side of cartoons.

4. The cartoons must not have been previously

awarded on

festivals.

5. Maximum 3 entries will be submitted.

6. Size of entries is A4 or A3 format.

Authors of works that qualify to the exhibition

are given a presentation copy of the exhibition

Only on explicit request will remaining

(original) works be returned to the owners in the

end of the exhibition cycle (in the second half of

the year 2016).

The organizer reserves the right to reproduce the

works sent to the festival, Zagreb 2015, as the

advertising material without being obliged to

pay a fee to an author whose work may be used.

The prize-winning works become property of

the organizer.
