7TH MOGI GUAÇU HALL OF  HUMOR  2009

The 7th Salon of Humor from Mogi Guaçu is a promotion of the Secretariat of Culture in partnership with the ONG TUPEC. Will be held from 21/08/2009 to 11/09/2009 in the Mogi Guaçu Cultural Center.

Participation

The competition will be divided into four categories cartoon, political cartoon, caricature and Comics amateurs and professionals can participate.

The submissions should conform to the standard size of 30 x 40 mounted on paper cards in this size (without margins) without frame, with free theme can be color or black and white. They should, however, be unprecedented and not to have been awarded in previous exhibitions or published in any vehicle. Each applicant may enter up to two works in each category, except for comics that should have a maximum of two pages for each job, using only one side of the paper.

Xerox or computer work will not be accepted.

Entries must be sent or delivered in person at Department of Culture (see address below) accompanied by the registration form affixed to the back of each work and should include:

The inscription implies the total agreement that all work can be used in the Hall of Humor to promote the event, in any way of public or private communication, where the author is mentioned. The author agrees that his works are reproduced and distributed without profit. The omitted cases will be evaluated by organization.

Works will be accepted if posted until 14/08/2009.

The Organizing Committee is not responsible for the work that arrives damaged or is lost by the postal route.

Awards

Will be awarded trophies for first, second and third placed in political cartoon, cartoon, caricature and comics.

The winning work will belong to the collection in this hall.

The award committee may stop rewarding a category for lack of qualification of the work presented then the trophy would be passed to the other categories.

The first placed will receive cash prizes.

Selection

The submissions will pass through a pre-selection committee composed by the Hall organizing team and the invited experts in humor design.

The questions not provided here shall be resolved by the jury, whose decisions are sovereign and irrevocable.

Returns

 The non awarded works should be removed by the author or someone of his trust on presentation of ID, after the exposure.

Great event for Asian–Pacific Youth Animation & Cartoon Arts

Platform for Asian–Pacific Young Talents

Asian Youth Animation & Comics Contest is authorized by the Asian–Pacific Animation & Comics Association and hosted by the Guiyang government. Asian Youth Animation & Comics Contest (hereafter referred to as “AYACC”) aims to be the top annual award for Asian and Pacific original animation and comics.

AYACC is dedicated to integrate Asian and Pacific cultural resources, promote the influence of Asian and Pacific youth animation and comics, cultivate a cultural image of Asia and Pacific,  provide a platform of information exchange, and to boost Asian and Pacific animation industry development. It is the premier event for Asian and Pacific animation and comics.  

Objectives

1.     To discover and foster talents.

2.     To encourage original arts.

3.     To stimulate technology Innovation.

4.     To develop cartoon products.

5.     To assist the animation industry, including in production, merchandising, distribution, and brand licensing.

 Format

(A) Animated work:
All animation works submitted must be 1-22 minutes in length.
Any of the following animation types are acceptable: painted cel, computer-assisted or computer-generated, stop-motion (including clay animation), 2D work, 3D work, FLASH, puppet animation, paper-cutting work, in fact, any format except live action!

(B) Still image work:
Single-frame work; four-frame work; multi-frame work; comic strips; illustration.

Qualification

1.     The submission should be completed after July 1st 2007 and the applicant has the copyrights of the work.

2.     Entry for the Category (A) (Animated Work):

[a] All works must be submitted on DVD or CD with high definition.
[b] The first episode, one of the middle episodes, and the last episode, as well as demo of TV animation series, are required.
3. Entry for the Category (B) (Still Image Work):
[a] All works must be submitted on DVD or CD. The format should be “.TIFF” or “.JPG” in a minimum size of 300 dpi.
[b] Any printing submission will not be accepted (work can be submitted in either computer or hand drawing; however, the electronic-version of submission is definitely required).
4. Format:
[a] compressed work such as ”.RAR” format is not allowed
[b] animated submissions (including FLASH) should be submitted in “.MPG”, “.AVI”, “.MOV” format. For each FLASH work, a copy of “.SWF” submission and 5 still images are required separately, which is used to present character and background with a minimum size of “300 dpi” in “.TIFF” or “.JPG”.
[c] please be sure to edit 5~10 seconds blank-screen at both head and end of each animation.
[d] in case of multiple submissions, please separate each individual submission. An uninterrupted multi-work submission is not allowed.
[e] still image work must be submitted in one “.TIFF” and one “.JPG” with minimum size of 300 dpi.
5. Language:
[a] All works must be subtitled in English.
[b] The story background, synopsis, brief introduction, and character description are required in either Chinese or English electronic-version.

1.     Anyone living in Asia and /or with roots in Asia and Pacific,  under age of 40, is eligible to enter; groups and individuals are eligible for entry.

2.     Professional and amateur artists are eligible for entry.

3.     The applicant must be the copyright owner of the submission.

4.     The applicant may enter multiple works.

5.     Group entries that win prizes are responsible for sharing/apportioning any prize money won among themselves.

1.     The organizing committee will inform all prize winners and nominated applicants the results of the contest before the awarding ceremony.

2.     The organizing committee will invite ONE representative from each award to be present at the awarding ceremony and provide the invitees the transportation tickets and accommodations during the time of the awarding ceremony.

3.     The nominated applicants who participate in the awarding ceremony will have a free-of-charge pass, offered by the organizing committee.

4.     Trophies and certificates will be awarded prize winners and nominated applicants.

5.     All prizewinners are solely responsible for paying taxes in connection with any monetary award, in accordance with all applicable local laws.

Contest

All entries go through three procedures. They are preliminary selection, semi selection, and final selection.

1.     Preliminary selection

The organizing committee of AYACC will select qualified works from all entries for the semi selection.

2.     Semi selection

The International Jury will select nomination works in the semi selection.

3.     Final selection

All nominated works shall be judged by the International Jury. The final results will be announced during the Awarding Ceremony.

(1) Any work, which does not relate to animation and comic or non-disc format submission will not be accepted.
(2) Each submission is allowed to submit to AYACC once. Works awarded in other contests can be submitted.
(3) A completed entry form is required for each submission; incomplete materials and unclean submissions will not be accepted.
(4) Each entry form is for ONE submission only; two or more submissions on one form will not be accepted.
(5) The completed electronic entry form, the work itself, and related materials shall be submitted at the same time to the AYACC Organizing Committee before the entry deadline. Submissions should be sent by mail, express delivery, or directly in person.
(6) Submission will not be returned; so please do not send us your only copy!
(7) Any submission sent by Internet will be accepted.
(8) Title of submission, name of applicant, and category must be labeled on the disc.

Notice

1. Entry is free. (Any cost of submission shall be borne by the applicant.)
2. Submission can be delivered either by each applicant or by group submission.
3. All required information must be filled on the form.
4. The applicant agrees that the AYACC organizing committee has the rights to publish and broadcast the submission for promotion purposes.

The Awarding Ceremony will be held on August 9, 2009, in Guiyang, Guizhou Province, China.

On the occasion of the BIRTH CENTENARY YEAR CELEBRATION OF EMINENT HISTORIAN P. C. RATH, the committee invites cartoons from both professional and amateur cartoonists of the world.

 

Rules:

 

1. THEME: Archaeology/History    

    

2. Maximum number of entries: 1 from each category. (Any technique: Black & white; Colour; Digital)

 

2. ABOUT THE CARTOON:

A) Only an unpublished Cartoon is to be sent as e-mail attachment.(Don’t send previously awarded cartoon)

B) The Entry Form (in MSWord) must accompany the cartoon attached mail.

C) Size: 21 x 30 cm (A-4)

D) Cartoon should be in JPG format (strictly 100dpi) (Maximum 1MB).

E) Every cartoon should accompany a certificate from the cartoonist with full signature (Scanned) about the originality and non-publication. The committee may ask the cartoonist to provide the signed original/sketch (Incase of digital art works) after their selection for exhibition/diploma.

7. RIGHTS OF THE ORGANIZER:

A) Once sent the works belong to the organizing committee. It can be published, distributed or used for promotional purpose in future.

B) Cartoons should be downloadable and clear. Committee would not be responsible in situations like net-failure, undownloadable cartoon etc. It is therefore advised to keep the file small.

B) The entries can also be made available in other publications by the committee.

C) Plagiarism, if noted, the entry will be summarily rejected or even the diploma would be withdrawn, if awarded.

D) In case of a dispute the decision of the Committee would be final. The committee reserves all rights to cancel or modify any of the rules/conditions.

Participants are considered to have accepted all the conditions and are aware that their submissions may be reprinted and used without future monetary compensation.

2009 China cartoon contest:

Xue You Yuan cup Cartoon & Charcater Contest is calling for excellent works now!
Welcome all over the world participating cartoonists!

 

Xue Youyuan, the largest Children education media group in China, starts the cartoon image collection contest for its core journal Passion for Learning!
This contest is undertaken by Zhongman Web (http://www.zhongman.com, the most professional cartoon information website in China) and Xue You Web (http://www.61go.com/ , the homepage of Xue You Yuan Education Media Group). It aims at looking for the cartoon spokesman for journal Passion for Learning and the long-term cartoon partner for Xue You Yuan Education Media Group.
The Chinese Characters Xue You Yuan（学友园）mean “learning, friends and party”, which rooted in the most influential Chinese education classical book the Analects: “Will you feel happy while learning and reviewing? Will you feel happy while there are friends coming afar? Enjoy the happiness alone, enjoy the happiness together, which is more happier?”
As Xue You Yuan’s core journal, Passion for Learning is the first grade subdivision learning journal for primary pupils in China. The journal has three branches: Chinese Language, Mathematics and Writing, which is edited from Grade One to Grade Six. So there are 18 volumes per month. It publishes about 150,000 copies per month, covers more than 320,000 primary schools and has more than 10 million pupil readers.

2. Regulations.
a Entries must be a complete sight “cartoon image”: human, animal, plants or other abstract image will be OK.
b Entries can be a single carton image, or a series of cartoon images with close relationship.
c Entries must be accompanied with description included the cartoon image’s name and symbolic meanings.
d The image must be close to the ordinary life and psychological characteristics of pupils, no matter in meaning expression and drawing skills. It also has to respect the independent personality of children, being funny, created individually and has universal promote potential
e Entries can be static cartoon or dynamic animation (flash).
(1) Static cartoon works: min. 300dpi, JPEG format.
(2) Dynamic animation works: 3-5 minute segments, .MPG, .AVI or .MOV format.
(3) Flash animation work must submit .SWF documents (authors should keep the .FLA source documents prepare for check).
(4) The entry form has to be finished. Your names, address, e-mail and phone number should be attached.

4. Assessment.
a All entries will be published on Zhongman Web and Xue You Web and accept the online voting. The cut-off date of voting is: Feb 1st, 2010.
b Organizing Committee will gather the result of voting, take the advises from education professors and cartoon experts, and then select the best work as the cartoon image of Passion for Learning. Another 10 finalist prize will be selected at the same time.

5. Prize and Awards.
Gold prize: one, 10,000 RMB with certificate.
Finalist Prize: ten, 1000 RMB each and certificate.

6. Special Note:
The finalist prize winners (or teams) will have the opportunity to sign with Xue You Yuan to draw covers and insert drawings of Passion for Learning magazine series (18 books per month). The fee of the cover is 1000-2000 RMB per page (18 pages per month). The fee of insert drawings is 200-400RMB per page (500 pages per month). Fixed remuneration is over 1.5 million RMB a year.
Signed author will also have the priority to gain the drawing works more than 40 kinds of excellent children’s books published by Xue You Yuan in priority.
At the same time, the finalist prize winners (or teams) will become the VIP member of the comic co-operation studio which was founded by Xue You Web and Zhongman Web. They will have the priority to participate the comics and animation-related activities which held by the both website.

7. Legal Statements.
a The organization has the right to use all the submitting work in such conditions: promotional materials, related publications, authorized media propaganda, official websites and users’ downloads, the Award Show and the exhibitions.
b Authors can participate other similar contests by using the same works outside the period of this cartoon image contest. However, the consequences caused by these behaviors that may be causing conflict with other contest organizers or related agencies will be undertaken by participants selves.
c Entries have to be original works. Participants should have full intellectual property rights. Infringement of intellectual property is forbidden. Participants will be disqualified immediately and bear all legal responsibility if such infringement acts are found.
d Entries cannot include any contents of the violation of laws and insult to other people. Participants will be disqualified immediately and bear all legal responsibility if such infringement acts are found.
e Organizing committee has the final right of interpretation.

OSTEN –WORLD GALLERY OF CARTOONS – SKOPJE 2009. REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA

– The World Gallery of Cartoons is organized by Osten – magazine for humour and satire.
– The received cartoons will be judged by international jury
– The opening ceremony and award announcement will be held in October 2009 in Skopje

PROPOSITIONS FOR PARTICIPATION

Subject of 37. WGC: ”My subject”
– Only original cartoons will be accepted (optional, will be accepted digital prints of the cartoons on paper signed by authors-cartoonists)

– It is allowed for one author to send maximum two (2) cartoons. On the back side of the cartoons please write the name and surname of the cartoonist and the title of the cartoon.

– Size of cartoons should be on paper format A4 or A3.

– The organizer of WGC will not be responsible for any damage that may occur during postage and handling.

– The organizer of WGC will keep the cartoons as part of collection of museum of WGC.

– By filling out the Participation form, the participant declares and accepts in advance that (s)he hands over the financial/copy rights (s)he holds over the cartoons to WGC for printing/publishing by WGC and Osten without any limitations on location or time period. The author agrees that the organizer of WGC can use the cartoons, exhibit them, keep them in its archives and publish them on the Internet or through other media.

– The Participation form and coupons are available for photocopying and you can pass them to your friends and colleagues who would like to participate in WGC.

– The Catalogue of 37. WGC will be distributed for free to all participants who’s cartoons will be published in the same Catalogue.

– WGC will cover the travel and accommodation expenses for following prize-winning cartoonists for the award ceremony in Republic of Macedonia: Grand Prix, First, Second and Third Prizes.

– Deadline for entries is July, 30, 2009.

Worldwide Club of Odessites, Odessa Cartoonists’ Association
and «Vikna-Odessa» Informational Agency announce about
The «Fair Play» International Cartoon Contest

The contest is announced for the decision of the European football officials revoked Odessa right to receive matches of EURO 2012.

The verdict brought to Odessa is unexpected, unfair, opaque, and motiveless. It clashes cardinally both with conditions precedent for candidate cities selection and with conclusions and recommendations by UEFA experts, and also violates one of fundamental concept principles of fair play, i. e. equal chances — all of sportsmen starting the competitions could equally claim on victory.

UEFA by its decision left Odessa without EURO 2012, and EURO 2012 — left without Odessa, and entire world is at a loss… (that’s not less sad).

THE THEME of CONTEST — «FAIR PLAY»

Events, relations between people in sport (in football particularly). Situations could be reflected in a humorous mood, possibly, underlined in Russian, Ukrainian or English.

TERMS OF PARTICIPATION:

1). All comers can participate.
2). Pictures (electronic copies) can be done in any technique. The amount of pictures by one author is limited by five. Pictures having awards of other cartoon contests can participate.
3). Art pieces are to be forwarded via e-mail: odessacartoon@gmail.com and are to have resolution of 300 dpi, sized A4, format JPG or PDF, max 2,0 Mb.
4). Every picture is to be forwarded attached to a separate message, including artist’s questionnaire, address, e-mail, and a picture of the author.
5). Deadline of pictures receipt — June 20, 2009.
6). Pictures forwarding to participate the contest will be exhibited at “Vikna-Odessa” website (www.viknaodessa.od.ua) as they are received.
7). The round off of the contest according the decision of competent jury and announcement of winners will take place on June 26, 2009 in Odessa (Ukraine).
8). Art pieces forwarded to the contest will be exhibited since June 27 in free access in Odessa.
9). The pictures sent to the competition can be used by contest founders in ads and for Internet exhibitions.
10). Participating the contest artists consent that their works could be used in shows in Ukraine and abroad.
