Regulations

1. The contest is open to all the cartoonists, illustrators and graphic artists from all over the world. It’s possible to participate out of the competition. That request excludes the author from award of the prizes.
2. The theme of the contest is: TRAVELS
3. The authors can participate with a maximum of 3 works (Cartoons or Strips) inherent to the theme proposed in connection with the man, his existence and the society, seen in humorous view-point. The works, for being able to be comprised all over the world beyond every linguistic barrier, will have to be without dialogue or texts.
The works, realized with free technique, should be originals or digital prints numbered and signed by the author. The photocopies will not be accepted.
The format of works is free, within a maximum of 60×60 cm.
The works should bear the author’s name, surname, address, email and possible title on the back.
4. The deadline for works reception is january 25, 2012 (based on the postmark).
The works, accompanied by the author’s entry-form, must be sent (pastage paid by the sender and without frames or glass) to the following address:

5. The acceptance of the works, the selection, and the assigning of the prizes are completely up to the Jury nominated by Artistic Direction and "Gruppo Grafico Marosticense". The Jury’s decisions are final.
6. The Jury will award the following prizes:
"International Grand Prix Scacchiera"
12 Special prizes "Umoristi a Marostica".
Special prize "Sandro Carlesso"
Special prize "Marco Sartore"
Other special prizes or honorary mentions may be awarded.
7. The results of the Jury will be given directly to all the participating artists by email or mail and published on the web site www.umoristiamarostica.it within february 2012
8. The opening ceremony and the prize distribution will have place on april 14, 2012 at Castello Inferiore of Marostica. The exhibition will remain opened till 27 may, 2012.
9. All the authors selected will receive a free copy of catalogue.
All the other participants not selected will be able to demand the catalogue compiling the module on the site www.umoristiamarostica.it
10. The prize-winning works will not be returned and will be included in the collection of "Umoristi a Marostica Museum".
Only the original works of authors selected will be returned after the exhibition and with postage paid by "Gruppo Grafico Marosticense". The works of authors not selected and all the digital prints will not be returned. The authors selected may give their works to "Umoristi a Marostica Museum" in any case.
11. The "Gruppo Grafico Marosticense" reserves the right to authorize the reproduction of the work citing the author with the words "Taken from Umoristi a Marostica", without any payment. The "Gruppo Grafico Marosticense" is not responsible for transport damages.
12. The participation in the contest implies the complete acceptance of all the conditions and rules from the author.

II. SELECTIVE CARTOON CONTEST

1.) I am a selective man!
Theme: promoting selective waste collection.
We can help save our planet for the next generation by selectively collect used and unneeded, but still recycleable materials. Although selective waste collection is not a problem any more, it still has not become an integral part of our everyday life. Let’s use the humour of cartoons to show some of the absurdities and contradictions of our lives and let’s have a good laugh at our own peccadillos. Humour may help us and our children better understand our planet’s needs.
2.) The contest is open, so we accept works of both amateurs and professionals from all around the globe.
3.) Deadline for entries: 28. February, 2012.
4.) The entries will be judged by a professional jury. The jury’s decision is not negotiable.
5.) We aim to organise an exhibition tour in primary, secondary schools and colleges in Hungary, where we would like to point out the imprtance of selective waste collection to the young. The first exhibition is scheduled in Baja in March 2012.
6.) It folows from 5.) that the submitted cartoons will not be returned!
7.)  Participants can submit up to three original cartoons in A/4 or A/3 size, using any technique. Prints of cartoons produced or coloured with software can also be submitted on condition that it has the cartoonist’s original signature and the print’s serial number.
8.) The participants should write their name, address, phone number and e-mail address on the back of the cartoons.

THE 2nd YILMAZ GÜNEY FESTIVAL OFCULTURE AND
ART THE 2nd INTERNATIONAL DRAWING CONTEST

For the "2ndYýlmaz Güney Festival of Culture and Art", organized by Yüz Çiçek Açsýn CulturalCenter, there will be a "2nd International Cartoon Contest" inaddition to the movie, theatre, short story, poetry and photography contests.The general understanding which we wish to disseminate with these contests isnot one of competition but one where different artistic interpretations andideas come together and are shared with the people. Therefore, the goal is notto "compete and win" but to contribute to the development of art.

1-The contest is open to artists from allover the world, professional or amateur.

2- The contest will be comprised of twoseparate branches:

a) "Cartoons about cinema"

b) "Cartoons of Yýlmaz Güney’s portraits"

3-The work submitted must not have receivedan award at another contest. The works will be judged for their progressive,realistic and critical aspects which are important qualities of Yýlmaz Güney’scinema and are integral to the nature of the art of cartoon.

4- Participants may submit any number ofcartoons they wish. But a participant cannot receive more than one prize.

5-The drawing sent should not be any largerthan a sheet of A3 paper (29,7 cm x 42 cm). They must be in jpg format, with300 dpi resolution.

6- Works must be submitted until the 15thof February,2012, via e-mail to the address "karikatur.yilmazguneyksf@gmail.com".

7- Participantsmust specify which branch of the contest they wish to take part in ("cinema" or"portrait"). When sending the work, the artists must send a word documentcontaining their names, postal addresses, phone numbers, and e-mail addressesalong with a short resume and a photo of themselves. Artists under 18 mustdefinitely specify their age as there will be a "promising young artist award."

8- Works whichhave received awards and/or were seen worthy of display will be broughttogether and published as an album. Those artists whose drawings are in thealbum will receive a copy.

9- The exhibitionof the contest will be displayed in various parts of Istanbul during the monthof March. The award ceremony will take place on the 31st of March2012, which is the final evening of the festival, in Istanbul. The participantswho could attend the ceremony will have their prizes sent to their homeaddresses.

10- Once the works have been evaluated, 4participants for each category will receive the "Yýlmaz Güney Honorary Award."In addition, two participants from prison will receive the "Yýlmaz GüneyFreedom Award", two participants under 18 will receive the "Promising YoungArtist Award," and one participant will receive the "Judge’s Special Award."

11- The jury will be comprised of thefollowing artists: Paolo Dalponte (Ýtaly), Elena Maria Ospina Mejia (Spain),Canol Kocagöz (Turkey), Musa Gümüþ (Turkey), Kamil Yavuz (Turkey), and AþkýnAyrancýoðlu (Turkey).

12- The works which have been submitted tothe contest will stay in the archives of the organization organizing thefestival. The organization will have the right to use these works in itspublications, posters, brochures, calendars etc. The artist will receive a copyof the publication whenever his/her work is used.

13- All artists participating in thecontest are assumed to have read and agreed with the terms stated above.

"2. ULUSLAR ARASI KARIKATUR YARISMASI"

Yuz Cicek Acsin Kultur Merkezi tarafindan organize edilen "2. Yilmaz Guney Kultur ve Sanat Festivali" kapsaminda sinema, tiyatro, oyku, siir ve fotograf yarismalarinin yani sira "2. Uluslar arasi Karikatur Yarismasi" da gerceklestirilecektir. Festival kapsaminda yapilacak bu yarismalarda; birbirini gecme, one cikma gibi rekabetci bir anlayis degil; farkli renk ve guzellikleri, farkli dusunce ve sanat anlayislarini bir araya getiren ve insanlarla paylasan bir anlayis hedeflenmektedir. Onun icin amac yaristirmak ve "odul" vermek degil; guzel olanin gelisimine katki sunabilmek ve tesvik edebilmektir.

4- Katilimcilar istedikleri sayida eser gonderebilirler. Ancak bir cizere birden fazla odul verilmez.

7- Eserler gonderilirken e-mailin konu kismina hangi dalda katildigi; "sinema" veya "portre karikatur" olarak belirtilmelidir. Eserlerle birlikte butun sanatcilar adini, posta adresini, telefonunu, e-mail adresini, kisa ozgecmisini ve bir adet fotografini da word dosyasi olarak gondermelidirler. 18 Yasindan kucuk cizerler ("Umut veren genc cizer odulu" verileceginden) yaslarini mutlaka belirtmelidirler.
8- Odul alan ve sergilenmeye deger gorulen karikaturler bir albumde yayimlanacak ve bu album eser sahiplerine gonderilecektir.
9- Yarismanin sergisi Mart ayi icinde Istanbul’un degisIk mekanlarinda acilacak, odul toreni de yine Istanbul’da festivalin final gecesinde 31 Mart 2012 tarihinde gerceklestirilecektir. Torene katilamayanlarin odulleri adreslerine gonderilecektir.
10- Degerlendirme sonucunda; karikatur ve portre karikatur dallarinda ayri ayri olmak uzere 4’er karikaturiste "Yilmaz Guney Onur Odulu" verilecektir. Ayrica cezaevlerinden katilan iki cizere "Yilmaz Guney Ozgurluk Odulu", 18 yasindan kucuk iki cizere, "Umut Veren Genc Cizer Odulu" ve bir cizere de "Secici Kurul Ozel Odulu" verilecektir.

Bruce Lee

Bruce Lee (born Lee Jun-fan; 27 November 1940 – 20 July 1973) was a Chinese American,Hong Kong actor, martial arts instructor, philosopher, film director, film producer, screenwriter, and founder of the Jeet Kune Do martial arts movement. He is widely considered by many commentators, critics, media and other martial artists to be the most influential martial artist, and a cultural icon.

Lee was born in San Francisco to parents of Hong Kong heritage but was raised in Hong Kong until his late teens. Lee emigrated to the United States at the age of 18 to claim his U.S. citizenship and receive his higher education. It was during this time that he began teaching martial arts, which soon led to film and television roles.

His Hong Kong and Hollywood-produced films elevated the traditional Hong Kong martial arts film to a new level of popularity and acclaim, and sparked a major surge of interest in Chinese martial arts in the West in the 1970s. The direction and tone of his films changed and influenced martial arts and martial arts films in Hong Kong and the rest of the world, as well. He is noted for his roles in five feature-length films: Lo Wei’s The Big Boss (1971) and Fist of Fury (1972); Way of the Dragon (1972), directed and written by Lee; Warner Brothers’ Enter the Dragon (1973), directed by Robert Clouse; and The Game of Death (1978), directed by Robert Clouse.

Lee became an iconic figure known throughout the world, particularly among the Chinese, as he portrayed Chinese nationalism in his films. He initially trained in Wing Chun, but he later rejected well-defined martial art styles, favouring instead to utilise useful techniques from various sources in the spirit of his personal martial arts philosophy, which he dubbed Jeet Kune Do (The Way of the Intercepting Fist).

The world has been witnessing to a tragedy. Whereas there are people who suffer obesity as a result of their nonsensical eating habits, a shocking number of people cannot obtain even the essential nutrients to survive, struggle against hunger, and die out of hunger. This contest is organized to point the severity of that miserable situation that taking place in the region of Ummah of Islam, and especially in the countries that are subjected to imperialism in the recent years.

The Theme of the Contest:

"HUNGER, OBESITY AND DEATH"

 
Conditions of Accession:
1.       The contest is free for all; there is no age restriction.
2.       The productions that are taking part in the contest should not have been in any other competition or published in anywhere before.
3.       Participants can join the contest with one or more productions.
4.       Participants are free to use any technique (black-and-white or colored) that is proper for their own style.
5.       Productions must be in size of A3 or A4 sheets. Any production that does not meet this requirement will not be taken under review.  
6.       Cartoons must be in ‘JPEG’ format and must be at least at ‘300 dpi’ resolution.
7.       The cartoons that are noticed/known by the jury as the same or resembling to another caricaturist’s work or belonging to another artist will not be taken under review.  The responsible for all kinds of disputes and claims of plagiarism are the participants themselves.
8.       The cartoons taking part in the contest will not be handed back. The rights of printing, publication and usage belong to From the Campus to the World Journal.
9.       Participants joining the contest will be considered as they accept the conditions listed above.

ULUSLARARASI KARIKATÜR YARISMASI

Dünya yýllardýr büyük bir trajediye þahit olmaktadýr. Bir tarafta bilinçsizce yemek yemelerinin bir sonucu olarak obez olan insanlar varken, diðer tarafta ise hayatta kalmalarý için gerekli olan temel besin maddelerini dahi bulamayan, açlýkla mücadele eden ve açlýktan ölen insanlar var. Bu yarýþma, son yýllarda ümmet coðrafyasýnda ve özellikle sömürge toplumlarýnda karþýlaþýlan içler acýsý bu durumun vehametine dikkat çekmek amacýyla organize edilmektedir.

Yarýþmanýn Konusu:

"AÇLIK, OBEZÝTE ve ÖLÜM" 

Katýlým Þartlarý:

1. Yarýþma herkese açýktýr; yaþ sýnýrlamasý yoktur.

2. Yarýþmaya gönderilecek eserlerin daha önce hiçbir yarýþmaya katýlmamýþ ve hiçbir yerde yayýnlanmamýþ olmasý gerekmektedir.

3. Katýlýmcýlar bir veya birden fazla eserle katýlabilirler. 

4. Yarýþmaya eser verecek olan katýlýmcýlar, kendi anlatým biçimlerine uygun tekniði (siyah-beyaz veya renkli) kullanmakta serbesttirler. 

5. Eserler A4 veya A3 ebatlarýnda olmalýdýr. Bu ölçülerde gönderilmeyen çizimler deðerlendirilmeye alýnmayacaktýr

6. Karikatürler ‘JPEG’ formatýnda ve en az ‘300 dpi’ çözünürlükte olmalýdýr.

7. Seçici kurulun ayný ya da benzer saydýðý veya bir baþka karikatürcüye ait olduðunu bildiði/fark ettiði karikatürler deðerlendirilmeyecektir. Her tür olasý tartýþma ve çalýntý iddialarýnýn sorumlusu katýlýmcý olacaktýr.  

8. Yarýþmaya katýlan eserler iade edilmeyecektir. Eserlerin basým, yayýn ve kullaným hakký Kampüsten Dünyaya Dergisi’ne ait olacaktýr.

9. Eserlerini yarýþmaya gönderen tüm katýlýmcýlar yukarýdaki koþullarý kabul etmiþ sayýlýr.
