The event will include a competition for cartoonists and the awarding of prizes for works of
literature, advertising and show business that have made the most of humor.
Participation in the cartoon competition is reserved for a limited number of selected artists and is
therefore not open to entrants other than the cartoonists, caricaturists and professional illustrators
indicated by the organisation.
For this reason, the competition rules and participation form will not be published on the website, as
they will be sent only to the invited artists.
The event will take place from August 24th to December 15th 2016
The launch of the exhibition will take place in the rooms of the “Giuseppe Verdi” Theatre in
Busseto (August 24th)
The exhibition will also travel to Salsomaggiore Terme, Fidenza, Fontanellato e Fiorenzuola.
The award ceremony will take place on 25th of September at the Terme Baistrocchi in Salsomaggiore.
RULES
The cartoon competition will be divided into two sections
A) First section: “Cartoon”
Artists are asked to send one or two artworks on the following theme:
“Climate Change”
Artworks without words are preferable. If it is essential to include a joke, the English translation must be
written at the bottom of the artwork.
Artists are asked not to send works containing references to highly topical politics or local events.
B) Second section: “Caricature (humor portrait)”
Each artist invited to enter this section must send two or three caricatures (humor portraits) of
personalities from show business, literature, sport or politics.
You are asked to avoid personalities who are only well‐known in a local area or in your own country.
Artists must choose whether to participate in the “Cartoons” section or in the “Caricature (Humor Portrait)”
section, as it is not permitted to participate in both.
To enter, send artworks in a digital format only by email to the following address:
selection@worldhumorawards.org
Artworks must be sent in a standard horizontal or vertical A4 or A3 format, with a resolution of 300
dpi and in jpg format. They can be in colour or black and white and any technique may be used.
Each artwork file must contain the artist’s name and the title.
All of the selected works will be printed onto cardboard for exhibition by the organisers.
The artworks must be sent along with the fully‐completed participation form (address, photo, short CV and
date of the artwork, with information on the technique used for the original).
A catalogue will be printed featuring one work from each artist. A copy of the catalogue will be sent to each
entrant.
The deadline for sending artworks is July 25th 2016.
Jury
The selection of works, their publication in the catalogue and the assignment of awards will be the exclusive
responsibility of the international jury, which will be composed of and chaired by professionals from the
sector. The jury’s verdict is final.
The jury and the organisation reserve the right to exclude from participation any artworks which are
considered to be unworthy of exhibition.
The jury meeting will be held in Busseto on 2th August.

10th INTERNATIONAL DON QUICHOTTE CARTOON CONTEST / 2017

Theme: “Respect differences!“

Societies differ based on their language, religion and racial features. These features create the basics of the “differences” description. In such terms, we may not talk about equality since every body has a different color. Amongst crowds, these concepts are unfortunately referred as discriminators. Whereas these differences should be seen as riches. Whilst facing differences, we should acknowledge everybody as they are and respect their differences. Respecting people’s thoughts, lifestyles, views of life are a must in the first place for societal values. These differences shouldn’t be a reason for imposition, othering and end up into opression. People’s values, lifestyles, visions, beliefs, anticipations, tastes, perceptions and interpretations pof the World may differ. All of them represents the riches of life. Acknowledging, understanding the other and whatever his/her differences are, knowing that he/she also owns all the rights we do, elevates our humanist side and universality.

In a society where some masses want the others to be just like themselves and rejecting the others’ cultural heritage representing the differences is a menace towards societal values. In any society, all the people must live in equal conditions and rights. Every race is different yet all create a harmony like a rainbow when joined. We deserve living in a colorful World independent of race, language and religion. Respecting the differences..

The purpose of our contest is to underline the difference while showing its importance to societies and implement it through the cartoon art.

10. DON QUICHOTTE ULUSLARARASI KARIKATUR YARISMASI / 2017

Konu: "Farkliliga Saygi"

Dunya uzerinde yasayan toplumlar dil, din ve irksal ozelliklerine gore ayrisir. Bunlar "Farklilik" tanimini olusturan temel ozelliklerdir.

Erdoðan Karayel’in uluslararasý baþarýsý..
Dünyanýn en ünlü sanatçýlarýný koleksiyonunda bulunduran DAIMLER ART COLLECTION, Erdoðan Karayel’in 3 çalýþmasýný koleksiyonuna aldý.
Karayel’in çalýþmalarýndan biri geçtiðimiz yýllarda Almanya’da iki eyalette ders kitaplarýnda kullanýlmýþtý.
"Don Quichotte" e-mizah dergisinin düzenlediði "Illegal Immigration" sergisinden seçme karikatürlerin yer aldýðý "Menschen auf Wegen und Fluchtwegen’ sloganýyla açýlacak olan uluslararasý sergide
Karayel’in yanýsýra 41 ülkeden 65 çizerin 100 çalýþmasý sergileniyor.

Erdogan Karayel’s International Success…
"Don Quichotte" to Exhibit His Works in "DAIMLER ART COLLECTION” which is one of the most prestigious art collections of the world…
In recent years, cartoonist and graphic artist Erdoðan Karayel has been performing well recognized events about refugees.
These events have recently grabbed the attention of DAIMLER AG (Mercedes).
The DAIMLER ART COLLECTION, holding the works of many well-known artists of the world, has added Erdoðan Karayel’s 3 works to the collection.
The institution has also decided to open up an international cartoon exhibition about refugees with Karayel’s curation.
The exhibition will be held in the beginning of May (09.05.2016) for 6 months at Untertürkheim/Daimler Congress Hall.
In recent years, one of Karayel’s creations has been included in the tutorial books of two provinces in Germany.
The international exhibition will consist of selected cartoons worldwide from "Don Quichotte" e-cartoon magazine’s "Illegal Immigration” exhibition with the slogan of "Menschen auf Wegen und Fluchtwegen’.
Besides Karayel, 65 cartoonists from 41 countries with 100 cartoons will be present at the exhibition.
Also, an exhibition leaflet with a cover consisting of Mr. Karayel’s work will be distributed
Mr. Karayel is the first Turkish Curator/ Artist whose work to be exhibited in DAIMLER AG’s art collection history.
Nejdet Niflioðlu, the manager of DAIMLER AG’s got a great merit in the realisation of the project. He regards this meaningful exhibition as a major success for cartoonists and the art of cartoon.
The essence of the exhibition is while expressing the global refugee tragedy through cartoons, to question the value given to humans on an international platform.
