The Friends of Nasreddin Hoca are in Istanbul

30 international caricature artists will be in Istanbul as invitees of The Association of Caricaturists for the activities of International Nasreddin Hoca Caricature Competition which will be held between 10-17 October. 

Worldwide known and prestigious International Nasreddin Hoca Caricature Competition is going to be organized 30th  times. The sponsor of the Competition is Koç Holding. 852 caricaturist from 58 different countries have presented their works of art the Grand Jury in order to take part in the Competition and to be put in the appearance on the same platform on which the world wide known caricaturists stands. The first International Nasreddin Hoca Competition was held between young caricaturists in 1973. Later, the Competition has gathered all the caricaturists of the world who have taken sides with peace in the world.  Since therefore the Competition has turned into an international forum. The activities of the associations were prohibited by the military regime in 1980’s and The Competition could not be maintained.
 
After 8 years of interruption International Nasreddin Hoca Caricature Competition reorganized. The caricaturist of the world once again came together for a peaceful and indulgent world. From its beginning till today 28.500 caricaturists have taken part and nearly 35.000 caricature competed in the International Nasreddin Hoca Caricature Competition that brought caricaturists from Turkey and from many countries of the world each year.

While open air workshops will be held by the estimable caricaturist guests of our Association of Caricaturists in the historical and touristic places of Ýstanbul, two panels, titled "21th Century and Caricature" and "The Contributions of International Nasreddin Hoca Caricature Competition at the World Caricature" will be held.

Our guests will meet with caricaturists who are members of our Association during the activities such as, Turhan Selçuk Exhibition, International Nasreddin Hoca Caricature Competition Exhibition and The Exhibition of Nasreddin Hoca Figures.

Yeni sezon baþlýyor. Karikatür müzesinin bu ilk sergisinde Kýbrýslý Türk karikatürcüler,
günümüz "Kýbrýs Karikatür Sanatý"ndan seçme örnekleri Eskiþehirli sanatseverlere sundular.
6 Ekim Çarþamba günü saat:17.30 açýlýþý yapýlan sergide Anadolu Üniversitesi’nde
okuyan Kýbrýslý öðrenciler de Kýbrýs þarkýlarý söylediler.
Kýbrýs Türk Karikatürcüler Derneði’nin giriþimi ile gerçekleþtirilen sergide
21 sanatçýnýn 60 eseri yer alýyor.

Prof. Dr. Meryem Akoðlan KOZAK;

Toonpool.com Exhibition in Izmir

Great news, everyone: toonpool.com proudly presents "A Smile Goes ‘Round the World / Bir Gülümseme Dünyayý Dolaþýyor", an exhibition of cartoons by toonpool.com artists from all over the world. The exhibition will take place in Izmir, Turkey between October 15 and 29, 2010 (scroll down for more detailed information). This is an interview with charming Menekþe Çam who made all of this possible.

Menekþe, it’s so exciting that there will be a toonpool.com exhibition in Izmir. Can you tell me how this came into being?

In fact, my husband first brought up the idea of a joint exhibition when we visited Berlin in late January. I mentioned the idea in the interview I gave back then and got very positive responses. I really want to thank Bernd Pohlenz for trusting me with the organization of the first toonpool.com exhibition in the "real world".

Of course I also have to thank all the artists who agreed to join the exhibition and sent in their cartoons. Finally, there is the people at the BKM (Buca Municipality Cultural Center) who agreed to host the exhibition and gave us all the things we needed. Organizing this took a lot of time – more than three months. And it took a lot of hard work.

So, what is the general idea of the exhibition?

First of all, it’s a wonderful cultural event that puts the works from a great cartoon community on display for the first time. Second, the exhibition shows that this community can act together when necessary.

There is no profit in this event apart from spiritual pleasure and artistic prestige. Still, I hope that we can repeat this exhibition in other countries – after all, our slogan is "Toonpool.com – A Smile Goes ‘Round the World"

How many artists will be on display in Izmir?

It was really hard to choose between more than 80,000 artworks by almost 2,000 artists from 160 nations. In the end we had to settle for 58 cartoons by 58 artists from almost as many different countries. Among the artists on display are Matteo Bertelli from Italy, Pawel Kuczynski from Poland, An Yong Chen from China,  Ernst Mattiello from Switzerland, and Xavier Salvador from Spain..

What kind of cartoons did you choose for the exhibition?

Mostly they were chosen from among the most popular cartoons on toonpool.com – the ones with the greatest number of votes and comments. Some of them are political, some funny, and some thought-provoking. There will be a catalogue, too.

An Earlier Exhibition at BKM

Will some of the artists be present at the opening ceremony?

Yes, Buca Municipality will host ten artists in a hotel on the seaside – for two nights and three days. This includes accommodation, breakfast, and dinner. There are still some free spots.. artists who sent in their work and would like to spend a spend a weekend vacation in Izmir should just contact me.

"Senin ismin gazetelerde çok çýkar, ha bire da ödül alýn" denilerekKarikatürist Hüseyin Çakmak’tan birikmiþ borçlarla birlikte
22 bin 352 TL 73 kuruþ vergi isteniyor.
Hüseyin Çakmak’ý iyi tanýyanlar bilir. Bu yetenekle dünyanýn baþka bir ülkesinde olsa, deðil 22 bin TL, 22 trilyon yýllýk vergi öder. Ama gel gör ki, Kuzey Kýbrýs’ta karikatürist. Kýymetini, sadece bu ülkedeki benzer iþi yapan arkadaþlarý ve sanatseverler biliyor, o kadar. Çakmak’ýn nasýl, hangi koþullarda yaþadýðý ile ilgili uzun uzun yazmayacaðým, bilen bilir. Ama Çakmak’a 22 bin TL vergi gelmesini doðrusu yadýrgadým.
"Giderim giderim derdimi anlayan yok" diyor Hüseyin Çakmak. Duruþu ve karikatürlerindeki mesaj nedeni ile de, yaþadýklarýnýn "siyasi bir yansýmasý" olduðuna inanýyor.
Çakmakla sohbetimizi, aynen aktarýyorum sizlere. Bir etkisi olacaðýný da düþünmüyorum. Çakmak Asil Nadir gibi medya patronu deðil. O’nun tetikçisi Reþat Akar gibi Genel Yayýn Yönetmeni de deðil. Bu nedenle siyasilerin üzerinde baský kurmasý da mümkün deðil.
Velhasýl… Çakmak kýrgýn, Çakmak üzgün, Çakmak çaresiz…Ben soruyorum, o cevaplýyor:
– Son kaç yýlýn vergisi bu rakamlar?
2004 yýlýndan bu yana gönderirler, ben de gider izah ederim ama anlayan yok
– 2004’den bu yana düzenli bir iþin var mý?
1999 yýlýndan bugüne uzun bir süredir iþsizim. Sadece 2007- 2009 yýllarý arasýnda Çiftçiler Birliði’nde asgari ücretle "Çiftçi’nin Sesi" gazetesini çýkardým. 12 Aralýk 2009 tarihinden Temmuz 2010 tarihine kadar da Haberdar gazetesinde yayýn yönetmeni, ama iki ay maaþ alabildim.
– E nasýl geçindin bu arada?
Aile katkýsý, ve yazýp çizdiklerimden telif haklarý aldým…
– Peki sence neden bu kadar yüksek vergi geldi?
Ýki neden var. Biri herhalde politik. Diðeri de gördüðüm, oradaki çalýþanlarýn bilinçsizce, araþtýrmadan herkese vergi yollamalarý…
– Nerden çýkardýn herkese vergi yolladýklarýný?
Sarýl telefona sor… Arda Gündüz’e ne kadar vergi yollandý? Duyduðum 100 milyarýn üstü… Özden Selenge, Arif Hasan Tahsin… Sanatçý ve yazarlara sýradan vergi gönderiliyor.
– Senin kayýtlarda gelirin yok madem, nasýl olur da vergi gönderilir?
Ýþte oradaki bilinçsizlik ve vatandaþtan intikam alma. Son gene gittim. Bana, ‘ödeycen, gaçarýn yok’ dediler. Bu kadar. Ýlgi bu kadar…
5 Nisan 2004 tarihinden 19 Eylül 2006 tarihine kadar belki bir iþ buluruk baabýnda Çalýþma Dairesi’ne gidip imza verdim. Devletin kendi kayýtlarýnda var bu. Ýþsizlik için imza attýðým döneme dair vergiler geldi.
Uluslararasý bir sanatçý olduk, dünyada ismimiz biliniyor ama halimizi de herkes biliyor. Ne trilyonerim. Ne de Han’ým Hamam’ým var. 1984 model bir arabam var. Bankada bin TL param var. Bunun dýþýnda kendi adýma baþka bir þeyim de yoktur.
– Ne yapacan peki?
Yapacak bir þeyim yok. Bu aþamada benim ödeyebilecek bir param yok. Ben gerekirse bu konuyu uluslararasý platforma taþýyacaðým. Zira evimin elimden gitmesi, haciz, hapislik gibi tehditler var. Halimden, durumumdan anlayan yok.

One of the most penetrating and fine Latin American humorists in the XX century, in their work the humor was satire, it was characterized especially by the political cartoon. Their cartoons were true x-rays of the facts and of the individuals. It was pioneer of the graphic publicity in Colombia.

16th  RENDON INTERNATIONAL CARTOON FESTIVAL

The Festival is an event sponsored by the municipal administration of Rionegro during  Sixteen serial years in memory of Ricardo Rendón Bravo.

The Festival, only in the history of the country for their trajectory and continuity; he has allowed to look at the perception of authors of but of 85 countries, main characters of the changes and experiences of the towns that contribute to the humanity’s growth with the same humour. The laughing thought and its universal language, caricature is the most effective weapon against the thought that does not laugh.

It is a dream and an universal yearning to erase frontiers so  territorial as ideological that prevent us to live in harmony and to visualize the light of the freedom as principle of peace and coexistence.

The Conditions :

•1)       The contest is open to all cartoonists all over the world.

•2)       The deadline for entries is October 30 – 2010

•3)       The themes of the competition are Three:

            Theme 1.  DEPENDENCE, (The Dependence like situation of a person that not It 

            can use for yes same.The political concept of Dependence is opposed to that of 

            Independence.

            Dependence Emotional, Economic, Psychological dependence and everything  

            what relates him).

            Theme 2. PERSONALITIE General Josè Marìa CÓRDOVA, Illustrious of the

            Independence Acquaintance as the " Heroe of Ayacucho ", was the general    

            antioqueño more emphasized during the period of Independence.

•4)       Each participant can present in the competition a maximum of Three cartoons for theme.

•5)       You can participate with cartoons in white and black or in color.

•6)       The size of cartoons will not exceed  30 x 40 cms maximum.

•7)       You can also participate in the competition with cartoons that have already been published or rewarded previously, all the presented cartoons will be original. Photographs, photocopies etc, will not be accepted, and the transport of the cartoons in charge of the participant.

•8)       Participants are requested to send, together with their cartoons, a short curriculum vitae and a photograph.

•9)       In the reverse of each cartoon he/she should go the name, surname, address, telephone number and country of origin of the participant.

•10)  The selected Caricaturist will receive free a catalogue.

•11)  The jury composed of Colombian and foreign cartoonists.

•12)  The results will be announced in the month of December of 2010.

•13)  The cartoons presented in the competition won’t be returned.

•14)  By filling in the entrance form attached, the participant declares and accepts in advance that (s)he has turned over the financial rights (s)he holds over the cartoon or cartoons vis-à-vis the public to Cartoonrendon without limitation on location, time period and number the intellectual property all rights for publication.(S)he agrees that Cartoonrendon may use such cartoons, exhibit them, keep them in its archives and publish them on the internet or through other media.

•15)  The organization is reserved the right of exhibiting those works that he/she understands they can attempt against individual or collective rights.

•16)  The Participation in the competition supposes the entire acceptance and without reservations all the conditions.

THERE WAS BROAD PARTICIPATION IN THE EXHIBITION AT THE TURKISHHOUSE.
MOST OF THE GUESTS WERE GERMAN. THE CARICATURES IN THE EXHIBITION HAVE BEEN
WATCHED WITH GREAT INTEREST AND ADMIRATION BY THE GUESTS.
AHMET ACET, TURKISH AMBASSADOR IN BERLIN HAS CELEBRATED ERDOGAN KARAYEL
FOR THIS MEANINGFUL EXHIBITION.
AFTER THE OPENING SPEECH OF MUSTAFA PULAT, TURKISH CONSULATE IN BERLIN
ERDOGAN KARAYEL BEGAN TO SPEAK AND HE TOLD THAT THEY AIMED TO EXPRESS THE PROBLEMS
OF THE IMMIGRANTS THROUGH THE CARICATURES IN GERMANY
WHERE WE LIVE NESTED WITH THE CONSEPTS OF "ADAPTATION AND CHANGE".
KARAYEL EMPHASIZED THAT EACH CARICATURE IS AS GOOD AS A BOOK AND
HE INFORMED ESPACIALLY GERMAN GUESTS ABOUT SOME CARICATURES.
SOME OF FAMILIAR FACES AMONG THE GUESTS WERE THE OLD MEMBER OF
PARLIAMENT OF LEFT PARTY, PROF. DR. HAKKI KESKIN,
PRESIDENT OF THE ASSOCIATION OF EUROPEN TURKISH JOURNALISTS, GURSEL KOKSAL,
HAYATI BOYACIOÐLU, POET GULTEKIN EMRE, CARTOONIST OF
"DIE MAUS MIT DER SENDUNG", SINAN GUNGOR.
WITHIN 15 DAYS WE OPENED OUR THIRD EXHIBITION IN BERLIN AFTER ISTANBUL AND
AYVALIK. IN 4-8 NOVEMBER WE WILL OPEN AN EXHIBITION IN GREECE-KOMOTINI.
THIS EXHIBITION WILL BE WITH REFERENCE OF THE CONSULATE GENERAL IN STUTTGART AND

KONU: "Naci Talat Portre Karikatürleri"

NACÝ TALAT ÖZGEÇMÝÞ:
10 Mart 1945 yýlýnda, Maðusa’nýn (Kýbrýs) Büyükkonuk köyünde doðdu. Ýlk ve orta öðrenimini Lefkoþa’da tamamladýktan sonra 1962 yýlýnda Ankara Universitesi Hukuk Fakültesi’ne baþladý. 1963 Toplumlar arasý Çarpýþmalar nedeni ile ile tahsiline ara verip Erenköy Harekatý’na katýldý. 1971yýlýnda, Hukuk Fakültesi’nden mezun oldu. Öðrenciliði sýrasýnda, Öðrenci kuruluþlarýnda çeþitli kademelerde görev aldý. Kýbrýs Türk Ulusal Öðrenci Federasyonu’nun ilk baþkanlýðýný yaptý.
1972 yýlýnda Lefkoþa’da baþladýðý avukatlýk mesleðine, milletvekili seçldiði 1976 yýlýnda ara verdi. 1975 yýlýnda Kýbrýs Türk Federe Devleti ve 1983 yýlýnda Kuzey Kýbrýs Kurucu Meclisleri’nde Cumhuriyetçi Türk Partisi’nin temsilcisi olarak bulundu. Hiç ara vermeden 20 Haziran 1976, 28 Haziran 1981, 23 Haziran 1985 tarihli genel seçimlerde milletvekili seçildi. 6 Mayýs 1990 tarihli seçimde milletvekili seçildiði halde iktidarýn anti-demokratik uygulamalarýný boykot etti, Meclis’e girmedi.
1972 ile 1991 yýllarý arasýnda Cumhuriyetçi Türk Partisi’nin Genel Sekreterliðini yapan Naci Talat, yaþamýný Kýbrýs Türk Toplumu’nun barýþ ve demokrasi mücadelesine adadý. Kýbrýs Türk siyasi yaþamýna yön veren önemli siyasetçilerin baþýnda gelen efsanevi lider, 26 Haziran 1991 tarihinde, Londra’da sevdiklerine ve mücadelesine veda etti.

SECOND INTERNATIONAL "ALEKSANDAR KLAS" CARTOON CONTEST
 
 
The oldest Serbian illustrated review "Ilustrovana politika" is organizing The Second International Cartoon Contest honoring its own the most famous cartoonist Aleksandar Klas (1928-2002).
Since 1950 over 30 000 his cartoons were published in national and international newspapers and magazines, and he had over 60 individual exhibitions. He got more than 130 prizes, so he entered in "Guinness’s book of records" as the most rewarded cartoonist in the world. Besides cartoon his occupation is painting, as well as illustration of books.
 
    Participation rules:
 
    1. Competition is open to professional and amateur cartoonists from all over the world.
    2. The theme of the cartoons is free.
    3. Participants take part in the competition with original cartoons. Cartoons must be signed by the cartoonist in case that they are submitted as digital prints.
        Photographs, photocopies, etc., will not be accepted.
    4. Size of cartoons should not exceed 30 x40 cm.
    5. Name, surname, address, phone number, e-mail, country of origin of the participant should be written on the back of his/her piece of work.
    6. Works must reach the organizer not later than October 25, 2010, packed in protective cover to:

    7. Result will be announced on first half of November 2010.
    8. Participating cartoons will be kept at the virtual Cartoon Museum, to be established by the review "Ilustrovana politika".
    9. Second International "Aleksandar Klas" Cartoon Contest will be celebrated with an award ceremony and exhibition of selected cartoons in November 2010 in Belgrade.
  10. Jury will award the following prizes:
 
                        – Grand Prix A. Klas: 1000 euros and diploma
                        – Second award A.Klas: 500 euros and diploma
                        – Third award A. Klas: 300 euros and diploma
                        – 5 diplomas A. Klas
 
                     
 
  11. Participating cartoons will be put into catalogue. The cartoons for the catalogue and exhibition will be selected by a jury.        A catalogue will be sent to the cartoonists whose piece of work are exhibited and published in the catalogue.
   12. Organizer reserve the right to use the sent cartoons for ILUSTROVANA POLITIKA advertising purposes without any special fees paid to the authors:
        to be exhibited and reproduced in a variety of advertising materials, as well as printed in catalogue and review.
   13. Participants are considered to have accepted all the conditions.
   14. Participants are kindly asked not to post the works via electronic means as these will not be accepted for the competition.
