It is an irony of life that often a lesser man, by well-planned orchestration, is installed on pedestals, while one really talented unfortunately gets a silent burial. Through passage of time, layers of dust gradually settle over what that brilliant man had achieved with dedication during his life-time and eventually the image of that man and his work, though deserving to be treasured, are permanently consigned to oblivion. Such has been the fate of late Sri Purna Chandra Rath, whose multi-dimensional genius could not fully blossom as Myeloid Leukemia (Blood Cancer) claimed him prematurely at the young age of 43. Within a brief span of about 12 years of creative life, he could accomplish a lot in cultural, social and political spheres by sheer will-force and organizational capability. Despite infrastructural deficiencies, financial constraints and geographical obstacles prevailing at his time, he over-stretched his energies to see his dreams come true. In the process, he untimely perished like a ‘Candle burning at both ends’. (more :- pcrath )

In remembrance of this Eminent Historian, P.C. Rath Memorial Trust invites cartoons from both professional and amateur cartoonists of the world.

Rules:

1. THEME: Humanity

2. MAXIMUM NUMBER OF ENTRIES:

One (Any technique: Black & white; Colour; Digital)

3. ABOUT THE CARTOON:

A) Only one unpublished Cartoon is to be sent as e-mail attachment. (Don’t send previously awarded cartoon)

B) The Entry Form (in MSWord) must accompany the cartoon as attached mail.

C) Size: 21 x 30 cm (A-4)

D) Cartoon should be in JPG format (strictly 100dpi) (Maximum 1MB).

E) Every cartoon should accompany a certificate from the cartoonist with full signature (Scanned) about the originality and non-publication. The committee may ask the cartoonist to provide the signed original/sketch (Incase of digital art works) after their selection for exhibition/diploma.

6. THE PRIZES:

There would be 10 prizes (First, Second, Third, Special mention-2 and Honourable mention-5). All the prize winners would be given a Diploma Certificate and a CD album of selected cartoons.

7. THE RESULTS AND EXHIBITIONS:

A) The result of the contest will be declared in the last week of June 2010 and the selected cartoons will be exhibited in the
website: www.aswiniabani.com

B) The Diploma certificates and CD albums for all the winners will be sent by post after the function.

C) The exhibitions will be organized from June onwards in various places.
8. RIGHTS OF THE ORGANIZER:

A) Once sent the works belong to the organizing committee. It can be published, distributed or used for promotional purpose in future.

B) Cartoons should be downloadable and clear. Committee would not be responsible in situations like net-failure, undownloadable cartoon etc. It is therefore advised to keep the file small.

B) The entries can also be made available in other publications by the committee.

C) Plagiarism, if noted, the entry will be summarily rejected or even the diploma would be withdrawn, if awarded.

D) In case of a dispute the decision of the Committee would be final. The committee reserves all rights to cancel or modify any of the rules/conditions.

Participants are considered to have accepted all the conditions and are aware that their submissions may be reprinted and used without future monetary compensation.

Terms of carrying out of competition of caricatures 2010«Football unites us»

1. from April , 30th till July, 4th – reception of works (inclusive) in an electronic mode.
New works created for the given competition are accepted only. Works as a format : TIFF or jpg(not less 2МВ), 300dpi.

2. Till July, 5th – (inclusive) – voting of the registered users and their competitive works on a site www.art-krug.com.The announcement of a rating of the best 80 competitive works are on a site.All this cartoonists will receive the original copies(the catalogue of cartoons). 3. 15 – 16 July – Session of the International jury: a choice of owner Grand prix competition, authors of the occupied 1 – 3 places. 1. Any author without restrictions can become the participant of competition.
2. Cartoons should be author’s, infringement of copyrights is not admissible!
3. In the basic section of the competition only new works can be published, not being published earlier, including on the Internet, created specially for this competition are accepted only.
Quantity of works of one author – no more than 5.
4. In competition section «The Cartoon which brought good luck» works participating in other competitions and occupied or not the prize-winning places published earlier are accepted. In this nomination of a caricature also should correspond the basic theme of competition «Football unites us»

5. Technics of execution is free.
6. The author should send the colour photo with technical regulations, as well as at cartoons – for placing in the catalogue of cartoons and at an exhibition.
7. Technical regulations:
– In format TIFF, or jpeg (not less 2МВ, 300dpi),
– In case of creative necessity – the caricature can have the name or the comment only in the Ukrainian, Russian or English language
8. Cartoons should not offend honour and advantage of concrete public, social persons. Should not offend political, national, religious sights. Should not contain a scene of violence, cruelty, a pornography.

Anadolu Üniversitesi Karikatür Sanatýný Araþtýrma ve Uygulama Merkezi, Turizm Yazarlarý ve Gazetecileri Derneði ve Anatolia: Turizm Araþtýrmalarý Dergisi’nin iþbirliðinde "Uluslararasý Turizm Karikatürleri Yarýþmasý"nýn ikincisi düzenlenmektedir. Turizm, Türkiye’de ve Dünya’da en hýzlý geliþen sektörlerin baþýnda yer almaktadýr. Tatil amacýyla seyahat eden bireylerin tatil sýrasýnda yaþadýklarý her türlü deneyim turizm kavramý içerisinde deðerlendirilir. Konaklama, ulaþtýrma, seyahat acenteleri, yeme-içme, eðlence, rekreasyon, gezme-görme, müzeler, çevre, turist-yerli iliþkileri, vb. turizm sektörü kapsamýnda yer alan konularýn, geliþmelerin ve yaþanan deneyimlerin karikatür sanatçýlarý gözüyle deðerlendirilmesi, bu yarýþmanýn temel amacýný oluþturmaktadýr.

• Eserler en az A4 (21×27,7cm) en fazla A3 (29.7×42.0cm) boyutlarýnda olmalý ve postada zedelenmeyecek þekilde gönderilmelidir. Postadan kaynaklanacak kýrýlma ve bozulmalarýn sorumluluðu göndericiye aittir.
• Katýlýmcýlar eserlerinin arkasýna ad, soyad ve adreslerini yazmalý ve web sayfasýnda Windows Word programý ortamýnda yer alan Katýlýmcý Bilgi Formu’nu doldurarak eserleriyle birlikte gönderilmelidirler.
• Gönderilen karikatürler herhangi bir yerde yayýmlanmýþ olabilir, ancak daha önce bir yarýþmada ödül almamýþ olmalýdýr.
• Yarýþmaya katýlan karikatürler Anadolu Üniversitesi ve birimlerinde, Anatolia: Turizm Araþtýrmalarý Dergisi ile bu organizasyon ile ilgili kitap, katalog, broþür, kartpostal, web siteleri ve afiþlerde yayýnlanabilecek bunun dýþýndaki tüm yayýn haklarý eser sahibinin olacaktýr.
• Yarýþmaya katýlan eserlerden seçilecek bir bölümü albüm olarak yayýmlanacaktýr. Albümde eseri yer alan her sanatçýya birer albüm gönderilecektir.
• Dereceye girsin veya girmesin, albümde yer alsýn veya almasýn hiçbir eser iade edilmeyecektir ve tüm eserler Anadolu Üniversitesi Eðitim Karikatürleri Müzesi arþivine alýnacaktýr.
• Yarýþmaya katýlan bütün sanatçýlar katýlým koþullarýný kabul etmiþ sayýlýr.
• Ödül töreni ve sergi, 10-13 Þubat 2011 tarihleride arasýnda düzenlenecek olan Doðu Akdeniz Uluslararasý Turizm ve Seyahat Fuarý sýrasýnda gerçekleþtirilecektir. Ödül kazanan sanatçýlar fuar süresince Düzenleme Kurulu tarafýndan aðýrlanacaktýr.

2nd International "Tourism" Cartoon Competition
theme of the competition: tourism

The Second International Tourism Cartoon Competition is held with the cooperation of Anadolu University Research Center for Caricature Art, Association of Tourism Writers and Journalists and Anatolia: Turizm Araþtýrmalarý Dergisi (Anatolia: A Journal of Tourism Research). Tourism is one of the fastest developing sectors in Turkey and all over the World. Individuals’ various experiences during leisure travels are evaluated within the concept of tourism. Cartoonists? comprehension of tourism related issues such as accommodation, transportation, travel agencies, food and beverage, entertainment, recreation, sightseeing, museums, environment, tourist-resident relationships and also of the developmental process and of experiences of tourism, constitute the aim of this competition.
submission guidelines:
• The competition is open to all amateur and professional cartoonists.
• Each performer is allowed to submit maximum three works.
• The cartoons submitted to the competition may be prepared as original drawings, digital printings or computer printouts. The drawing technique is open-ended. Drawings may be colourful or black and white. On the other hand, performers are required to put signatures on their drawings.
• Drawings must be minimum A4 (21×27,7cm) and maximum A3 (29.7×42.0cm) size and potential deformation during the sending process should be avoided. Participants are responsible for any deformation caused by the posting procedure.
• Participants must write their names, surnames and adressess behind their drawings. Also, they must complete the Participant Information Form placed below in the Windows Word format and post it together with their drawings.
• Cartoons sent may be of the ones previously published somewhere but previously awarded cartoons are not allowed to submit.
• Cartoons submitted for selection will be able to be printed in Anadolu University and its units, Anatolia: Turizm Araþtýrmalarý Dergisi, and in other printed materials of this organization such as books, catalogs, brochures, postcards, web sites and posters. All rights for any other publishing except these belong to the owner of drawing.
• Some selected part of the cartoons submitted for selection will be published in the album. Cartoonists whose drawings published in this album will be sent a copy of the album.
• Regardless of award-winning or taking place in the album, all the cartoons submitted for selection will not be returned and will be archieved in The Anadolu University Museum of Cartoon Art.
• All the cartoonists participated in the competition are implied to agree on the conditions and regulations of the competition.
• Award ceremony and the cartoon exhibition will be organized during the The East Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel (EMITT) Exhibition which will be held in Istanbul between 10-13 February 2011 . Award-winner cartoonists will be hosted by the scientific committee during the EMITT.
